Did you ever dream of being a superhero?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe you wanted to be Spiderman who can cling to nearly any surface by his hands and feet?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or maybe you wanted to be Wonder Woman who can fly and talk to animals?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or just maybe you secretly wanted to be like the Hulk whose strength grows along with his anger?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The thing is, you don\u2019t have to be a fictional superhero to have super powers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moses\u2019s brother Ahron, our first High Priest, was known to have a super power \u2014 he was a super peace-maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His peace-making super power didn\u2019t require a special suit of armor, super agility, or mutant strength. In fact, it was really just a super skill set<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Mishnah describes Ahron as someone who loved peace and pursued it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If Ahron saw two people having an argument \u2014 and neither was willing to apologize to the other \u2014 Ahron would get involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He would go to each one of them and tell them how badly the other one felt about their argument. He would say, \u201cOy vey! So-and-so feels terrible about the fight you\u2019re having. They really want to make up with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n And then, he\u2019d go and say the exact same thing<\/em> to the other person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The next time the two people saw each other, they would immediately apologize and forgive one another. The argument was over. The relationship was repaired, and shalom was restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You, too, can be a shalom superhero like Ahron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When there\u2019s an argument at work, get involved. When there\u2019s a fight in the family, try to help settle it. Take initiative and try to restore shalom when there\u2019s conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yes, you might get a few bumps and bruises along the way.
